Fiscal Sponsorship

Supporting Special Projects

BAFA provides fiscal sponsorship for projects that fall within its mission. BAFA will oversee the execution of the project to enable project initiators to devote their creative energy to the programs they wish to support. Fiscal sponsorship frees them from the need to create a new tax-exempt organization, facilitates early contributions by donors and frees project initiators from the burdensome administrative and financial tasks. We provide this service to encourage greater giving to Armenia and greater engagement by those who wish to promote health, education and welfare in Armenia.

Sponsored projects must be approved by the BAFA board on an individual basis. Sponsored projects must have a clear champion dedicated to shepherding the project in accordance with BAFA’s policies and all legal requirements. Because fiscal sponsorship can be provided in a number of ways we encourage those who are interested to contact BAFA directly.

Supporting the Cosmic Ray Division

From 2001 to 2006, BAFA provided fiscal sponsorship in support of Anahid Yeremian’s efforts to raise funds to assist the work of the Cosmic Ray Division (CRD) in Armenia. Due to her enthusiastic and competent stewardship, the work of the CRD, one of the cutting edge research centers in Armenia, was made known to Armenians in the United States and more importantly to other funders in the scientific community. By lending fiscal sponsorship to Anahid’s early efforts, BAFA enabled her to raise $117,570 that was invested in educational opportunities for young scientists in Armenia. This paved the way for her to build a strong support base in the U.S. and Canada for CRD. BAFA’s early support enabled CRD to retain its scientists and survive during a critical transitional period when Armenian scientists, having lost government support, were looking for opportunities outside Armenia.
